I had a good idea for family home evening recently. Our kids have just started learning a couple of the articles of faith in Primary. I decided to help them along by learning them all in FHE. Each week we learn about a different article of faith.
For example - on the first week, we had a lesson about the godhead and then helped the kids to memorise the first article of faith. We also gave them a chart of all 13 to put on their bedroom walls so they could revise. During the week we occasionally asked them to quote it to see how well they remember it. They've been doing well and look forward to each one. They're keen to get all 13 down.
It's still a few years before our oldest 2 finish primary but there's certainly no harm in them learning them now.
